I was once watching a young mall performer, and an older guy and young girl in front of me were laughing and clapping like crazy at the bad jokes. I was starting to think that clearly I have no sense of humour. Anyway after the show the performer went up to talk to these people and it was very clear from their conversation that they were his dad and sister.

So alas no, I would say the clown has about the same amount of ESP powers as, say, David Copperfield, and probably a very good performer.
